The term convolution was purposefully chosen as the starting point for this conversation. Typically referring to a mathematical operation on two functions that produces a third function expressing how the shape of one is modified by the other, in this context we are really looking at how multiple waste streams impact the world around us.
Waste has typically been something that just happens. We throw things away, without any thought as to where away is. But there are consequences of those actions. Away is still a place, and there is risk that follows that waste to “away”, risk that actually may still bind the owner of that waste even after it has been discarded.
Perhaps if we take a closer look at waste itself, taking a more in-depth look at the industry around waste and those who are looking to reduce it’s impact. How is technology impacting this industry? How does data interface with this industry? How can we make better decisions and reduce our impact?
I do not know where this journey will end, but it starts here, without the sales pitch, in an effort to find the signal without the noise.
